The Bear Who Swam Through Stars

Lily loved the old pool behind her grandmother's house. It wasn't a swimming pool — it was a magical pool that only appeared at midnight, when the moonlight hit just right. The water would shimmer like liquid starlight.

One night, as Lily crept outside in her bare feet, she saw something extraordinary. A great bear sat by the pool, his shaggy brown hair glittering with dewdrops. He looked sad.

"I can't swim," the bear rumbled, his voice deep and gentle like thunder rolling far away. "My paws are too big. I just want to reach the little island in the middle."

The island held something shiny — what looked like an old cable, its copper wire glowing with strange light.

"I know a secret," Lily whispered. "My grandmother says this pool doesn't just hold water. It holds dreams."

The bear's eyes widened. They were the color of honey.

"Hold my paw," Lily said, "and believe we can fly."

The bear hesitated, then reached out his great furry paw. Together they stepped into the pool. But instead of sinking, they began to float.

"Believe!" Lily cried.

The bear closed his eyes and imagined himself light as a feather. Suddenly, they were soaring across the water, the pool reflecting stars below them like another sky.

When they reached the island, they discovered the cable was actually a constellation come to life — the Great Bull of the night sky, fallen and tangled.

"Thank you for finding me," the Bull said, his voice warm and kind. "I grant you one wish."

The bear didn't wish for himself. "I wish that every creature who feels too big or clumsy can find a friend like Lily."

The Bull nodded, and his constellation form rose back into the sky, leaving behind a single golden hair that turned into a star.

From that night on, whenever Lily looked at the constellation, it seemed to wink. And the bear? He learned he could swim through stars anytime he wished, just by believing.

Some say if you visit that midnight pool, you might still see them — a girl and a bear, swimming through starlight, proving that friendship makes impossible things possible.
