The Bear Who Spied Magic

Bernie was a bear who loved to spy on things. Not the sneaky kind of spy—just the curious kind. He would peek through tall grass and watch butterflies dance. He would hide behind trees and count squirrels gathering acorns.

One sunny morning, Bernie was spying near a sparkling pond when he saw something amazing. A tiny goldfish was swimming around, but this wasn't an ordinary goldfish. This goldfish was glowing like a little golden star!

Bernie leaned closer for a better look. The goldfish noticed him and said, "Hello there! My name is Finn. What are you spying on today?"

Bernie gasped. "You can talk!"

"I can do more than talk," Finn said with a wink. "I can grant one special wish to anyone who becomes my friend."

Bernie's eyes grew wide. He had always wanted a friend to share his forest adventures with. But Bernie thought carefully. His mother had taught him that true friendship was more precious than any wish.

"I don't want a wish," Bernie said finally. "I just want a friend. Will you be my friend, Finn?"

The goldfish's glow became even brighter. "That's the wisest choice anyone has ever made! Friends are better than gold, better than magic, better than anything."

Suddenly, the pond began to sparkle all over. Finn swam right up to the surface and said, "Jump on my back, Bernie! Let's go on an adventure!"

Bernie couldn't believe it. This tiny goldfish wanted to give HIM a ride! But as Bernie stepped onto the water, something magical happened. He didn't sink. Instead, he began to float!

Together, bear and goldfish soared through the sky above the forest. They saw clouds that looked like cotton candy, rivers that sparkled like diamonds, and mountains that touched the stars.

"Being your spy buddy is the best adventure ever," Bernie laughed as they did loop-de-loops through the clouds.

"And being your friend is the best magic of all," Finn replied.

From that day on, Bernie and Finn were the best of friends. Bernie learned that the greatest treasure in the world isn't gold or wishes—it's having someone special to share life's wonderful adventures with.
