The Bear Who Saved Halloween

Barnaby was a small brown bear with a very big dream. He wanted to be the first bear ever to win the Great Pumpkin Contest at the village fair. Every day, he tended his garden patch, watering and singing to his growing pumpkins.

But this year, something strange was happening. Barnaby's biggest pumpkin—the most beautiful, perfect ORANGE pumpkin anyone had ever seen—kept moving overnight. At first, it was just a little wiggle. Then it was across the patch. Then it disappeared completely!

"Oh no!" Barnaby cried. "Someone is stealing my pumpkin!"

That night, Barnaby hid behind a bush and watched. At midnight, he saw something impossible. His pumpkin began to wobble and shake. Out popped a small, green creature with stitching on its face and buttons for eyes. It was a ZOMBIE—but not a scary one. It was a PUMPKIN ZOMBIE!

"Hello?" Barnaby whispered, trembling.

The pumpkin zombie froze. "Please don't be scared," it squeaked. "I'm Zim. I was born from magic seeds. I just wanted to see the world!"

Barnaby's fear melted away. Zim explained he was lonely and had never seen beyond the garden. The bear's heart swelled with understanding.

"You should have told me!" Barnaby smiled. "I'll show you everything. And then... we'll go to the fair together!"

The whole village was amazed. Never had they seen a bear with a zombie pumpkin friend. Barnaby didn't win first prize for his pumpkin—but he won something better. He won the hearts of everyone who saw that friendship comes in all shapes, sizes, and colors.

"Even magical pumpkin zombies," Barnaby whispered, and Zim's button eyes twinkled like stars.

That Halloween, they handed out orange slices together, and Zim became the most beloved zombie in all the land—all because one bear chose kindness over fear.
