The Bear Who Loved the Moon
Leo loved his iPhone more than anything. He played zombie games every day after school, tapping the screen to make little pixel zombies dance. "Just one more level," he'd say, but the sun would set before he looked up.
One afternoon, his mom said, "Leo, please go outside! It's too beautiful to stay indoors."
Grumbling, Leo took his iPhone and sat on the back porch. Still tapping his zombie game, he almost didn't notice the big brown nose sniffing near the fence.
A bear! Not a scary bear, but a curious one with soft, gentle eyes. Leo froze. His iPhone slipped from his fingers and landed in the grass.
The bear didn't roar or chase him. Instead, it waddled closer and sniffed the glowing screen. A zombie character on the display danced, and the bear let out a happy huff!
"You like my game?" Leo whispered, creeping closer.
The bear sat up and waved its paw like the dancing zombie. Leo giggled. For an hour, they played together — Leo showing the bear different games, the bear mimicking what it saw on the screen. The zombie characters became their friends.
But then the iPhone battery died. The screen went black.
Leo felt sad until the bear nudged his hand and pointed toward the forest with its nose.
"You want to show me something?"
Together, they walked to a hidden meadow filled with fireflies that glowed like tiny phone screens. The bear danced, spinning and twirling under the moonlight.
Leo joined in, laughing as he'd never laughed at any game. The fireflies were better than pixel zombies. The forest was better than any level.
When it was time to go, the bear gave Leo a soft nose bump goodbye.
That night, Leo left his iPhone on his dresser. Outside his window, under the same moon, he knew his bear friend was dancing too.
Some adventures, Leo learned, couldn't be captured on any screen. The best games are the ones you play with friends, and the most magic happens when you look up from your phone and let the wonder in.
