The Bear Who Loved Screens

Lily loved her blue iphone more than anything. She played games and watched funny videos every day. One sunny afternoon, she decided to go swimming in Crystal Lake behind her house.

As she splashed in the cool water, something shiny caught her eye near the reeds. A giant brown bear sat on the grass, staring intently at... a smartphone?

Lily froze. Everyone knew bears were dangerous. But this bear just looked lonely, tapping the screen with his big fuzzy paw.

"That won't work," Lily called out bravely. "Your paws are too big!"

The bear looked up with sad brown eyes. Then Lily noticed what was on the screen – her favorite game, Zombie Garden, where you plant magical flowers to make zombie friends.

"You like Zombie Garden too?" Lily asked, swimming closer to shore.

The bear nodded enthusiastically and pointed at his phone, which looked just like hers. His screen showed a zombie character stuck behind a fence. Lily smiled. "That's Zombie Ziggy! He's my favorite. He just needs a sunflower friend to help him through."

For hours, Lily swam while the bear sat on the bank, and together they played Zombie Garden. The bear would grunt and point, and Lily would show him how to plant friendship flowers that helped all the zombies find friends. None of the zombies were scary – they were just lonely.

"The secret," Lily explained, "is that zombies aren't really monsters. They're just looking for someone to understand them."

The bear wrapped Lily in a gentle furry hug. She realized he had been lonely too, just looking for a friend who understood his love for games.

Every day that summer, Lily went swimming at Crystal Lake. She and her bear friend reached new levels together, helping zombies find friends and becoming best friends themselves.

Lily learned something wonderful: sometimes the scariest-looking creatures – whether zombies or bears – just need someone brave enough to say hello.
