The Bear Who Loved Green Leaves
Once there was a great big bear named Barnaby who lived in a cozy cave near a sparkling blue lake. But Barnaby had a secret—he was afraid of water! While other bears splashed and played, he stayed on dry land.
One day, while rummaging through a garden, Barnaby found something strange: a patch of bright green spinach leaves shimmering with magic. Hungry and curious, he took a bite. Suddenly, his paws began to glow! A wise old owl appeared and explained, "These are magic spinach leaves from the Lightning Garden. They give you the courage of a storm!"
Just then, dark clouds gathered and real lightning flashed across the sky. Barnaby's heart pounded, but the spinach gave him bravery. He saw a little rabbit trapped on a rock in the middle of the lake as the storm raged on.
Without thinking, Barnaby dove into the water! To his surprise, he was amazing at swimming! His big paws paddled gracefully, and the magic spinach made him strong and fearless. He reached the rabbit just as a lightning bolt struck a nearby tree, splashing them both.
They reached shore safely, and Barnaby realized his fear was gone forever. The spinach's magic had shown him that true courage comes from helping others. From that day on, Barnaby became the lake's guardian, swimming every day to make sure everyone stayed safe, especially during lightning storms.
And sometimes, when you visit that lake, you might still see a big bear splashing happily, reminding us all that the bravest things we can do are the ones that help our friends.
