The Bear Who Learned to Swim

Barnaby the bear had a secret. He was the only bear in the Whispering Woods who couldn't swim. All his friends splashed and played in the crystal creek, but Barnaby stayed on the grassy bank, watching with sad eyes.

One sunny afternoon, he discovered something magical hidden behind the waterfall. It was a secret pool, glowing with sparkles like tiny stars trapped in water. And there, swimming in circles of rainbow light, was a golden goldfish named Glimmer.

"Hello there, bear!" Glimmer called, her scales shimmering like sunshine. "Why the long face?"

Barnaby sighed. "I wish I could swim like other bears. But water scares me."

Glimmer swam closer, her tail making ripples that turned into little silver rings. "Being brave doesn't mean you're not afraid. It means trying anyway. And I'll be your friend and teacher!"

Every day that summer, Barnaby visited the magic pool. Glimmer taught him to blow bubbles like a fish, to paddle his big furry paws, and to trust that water could hold him up. Sometimes she let him hold her magical tail, which glowed brighter whenever he felt scared.

"You're doing wonderfully!" Glimmer cheered when Barnaby finally floated on his back, watching clouds drift above.

On the last day of summer, Barnaby swam his first full lap across the pool. Glimmer jumped out of the water, her scales flashing every color of the rainbow. "You did it! You're the bravest bear I know!"

Barnaby hugged his new friend gently. "Thank you, Glimmer. The magic wasn't just in the pool. It was in having a friend who believed in me."

Now Barnaby swims in the creek with all the other bears, but every evening, he visits his goldfish friend at the secret pool. They splash and play, and sometimes, when the moon is full, the water glows golden—just like friendship should.
