In the heart of Whispering Woods lived Bruno, a gentle giant of a bear with fur like chocolate and eyes full of wonder. Bruno loved watching the children play in the meadow near his forest home, especially when they played baseball. He would sit behind the old oak tree, wide-eyed, as the ball soared through the air like a shooting star caught in a game.

Mittens, no bigger than Bruno's paw, showed him how to hold a baseball bat properly, how to swing with just the right amount of power, and how to catch the ball in his giant paws without squishing it. On the final day of summer, the children invited Bruno and Mittens to join their game. Bruno stepped to the plate, his heart pounding like drumsticks. The pitcher threw the ball, and Bruno swung –
