The Bear Who Learned to Dance
Barnaby was a stuffed bear with fuzzy brown fur and one ear that flopped sideways. He sat on Lily's bed until midnight, when the magic moonlight made him real.
One night, Barnaby heard sad moaning from the toy box. Out limped a zombie bunny named Zombilina, her gray fur patched and her orange button eye loose. Everyone called her scary, but Barnaby saw her lonely heart.
"I want to play," Zombilina sniffled, "but everyone runs away."
Barnaby had an idea! "Let's have a midnight adventure!"
They went **running** down the hallway, past the sleeping cat, and into the backyard. There, they built a magnificent pillow **pyramid** tall enough to reach the stars. Lily had taught Barnaby that pyramids were magical places where wishes came true.
Climbing to the top, Zombilina made a wish. "I wish I had a friend who isn't afraid of me."
Suddenly, the moonbeam wrapped around them like glowing ribbons. Music filled the air – twinkly and sweet. Barnaby took Zombilina's paw and they began to dance!
The zombie bunny wasn't scary at all when she danced – she was graceful and funny! They spun and twirled until they were dizzy with joy. Other toys woke up and watched with wide eyes. No one had ever seen a zombie dance like that!
"That was beautiful!" whispered a porcelain doll. "Can we dance too?"
Soon, all the toys were dancing – even the grumpy robot and the shy plastic dinosaur. Zombilina wasn't the scary zombie anymore. She was the best dancer in all of Toyland!
As the sun peeked over the horizon, Barnaby tucked Zombilina back into her spot in the toy box. "Tomorrow night," he whispered, "we'll teach everyone the Zombie Wiggle Dance."
When Lily woke up, she found her toys arranged in a circle, as if they'd been dancing together. She picked up Barnaby and Zombilina, hugging them both.
"I love you both just the way you are," she said, and Barnaby's heart smiled, because he knew the best magic was the magic of friendship and never judging someone by how they looked.
