The Bear Who Guarded the Pyramid
Leo loved his fuzzy teddy bear, Barnaby. Every night, Barnaby slept on Leo's pillow, guarding his dreams.
One stormy evening, as lightning flashed across the sky, something magical happened. A brilliant bolt of lightning struck the old museum across the street, and suddenly, Leo wasn't in his room anymore.
He stood before a golden pyramid that shimmered like sunrise. Barnaby was there too—but now Barnaby was as big as a real bear!
"Welcome!" boomed a voice. A sphinx with eagle wings and kind eyes stepped out from behind the pyramid. "I've been waiting for someone brave enough to visit."
"Are you... are you real?" Leo asked, hugging Barnaby's fuzzy leg.
The sphinx smiled. "As real as your imagination. Inside my pyramid lives a grumpy old zombie king. He was once a great pharaoh who forgot how to play. That's why he's so grumpy. He needs someone to teach him joy again."
Inside the pyramid, they found the zombie king sitting alone on his throne. He looked sad, not scary.
"Hello," Leo said bravely. "I'm Leo, and this is Barnaby."
The zombie king sighed. "I've forgotten how to smile. It's been thousands of years."
Leo had an idea. He started making silly faces. He danced a funny jig. He even made Barnaby do a wiggle dance.
Slowly, the zombie king's lips began to twitch. Soon, he was chuckling. Then laughing! His greenish face turned rosier with every giggle.
"I'd forgotten!" the zombie king beamed. "Happiness is the greatest treasure of all."
He gave Leo a small golden scarab beetle. "Whenever you need courage, hold this tight. Remember: even the grumpiest hearts can learn to smile again."
As lightning flashed once more, Leo found himself back in his room. Barnaby was small again, tucked under his arm. But the golden scarab was real, glowing softly on his nightstand.
Leo learned that day that kindness and joy are the most powerful magic of all—and that even the scariest problems can be solved with a little bit of laughter.
