The Bear Who Found a Friend

Barnaby was a small brown bear with big dreams. Every night, his mother told him stories about the Golden Pyramid that shimmered at the top of Misty Mountain. They said the pyramid could grant one wish to anyone pure of heart.

One sunny morning, Barnaby packed his favorite honey jar and waved goodbye to his family. "I'll find the Golden Pyramid!" he promised himself.

As he climbed higher, the trees grew tall and mysterious. Suddenly, he heard a rustling sound. From behind a giant fern stepped a creature—gray and bumpy, with leaves stuck in its fur. It looked like a zombie from the old stories!

Barnaby's heart raced. But instead of running, he noticed something strange. The creature's eyes were kind, and it was trying to free a butterfly from a spiderweb.

"Hello," said Barnaby bravely. "I'm Barnaby. What's your name?"

The creature smiled. "I'm Zim. I know I look scary, but I'm just a guardian. I was enchanted to protect the Golden Pyramid. Most people run away when they see me."

"But you helped that butterfly," Barnaby said. "You're not scary at all."

Zim's eyes sparkled. "Would you like to be my friend?"

"Yes!" Barnaby cheered. Together, they climbed to the peak of Misty Mountain. The Golden Pyramid glowed before them, its surface gleaming like sunrise.

"What will you wish for?" Zim asked.

Barnaby thought carefully. "I wish that everyone could see that friends come in all shapes and sizes—even ones that look different from us."

The pyramid glowed brighter, and Zim's gray fur turned soft and golden. The enchantment broke!

"Thank you, Barnaby," Zim said, hugging his new friend. "You saw me with your heart, not your eyes."

Hand in paw, the bear and his new friend walked home together. Sometimes the best adventures aren't about what you find at the end—they're about the friends you meet along the way.
