The Bear Who Dreamed of Swimming

Barnaby was a big brown bear who lived in the mountains. Every day, he would walk down to the edge of the sparkling blue lake and watch the other animals play. He saw ducks diving and frogs splashing, but Barnaby had never learned to swim.

One sunny morning, as Barnaby sat by the water's edge feeling sad, a tiny orange goldfish named Glimmer popped her head above the surface.

"Why the long face, Mr. Bear?" Glimmer asked in her bubbly voice.

"I wish I could go swimming like everyone else," Barnaby sighed. "But I'm too big and clumsy. The water looks so deep and scary."

Glimmer laughed and did a happy spin in the water. "But that's the wonderful thing about swimming! The water holds you up like a big, gentle hug. I could teach you!"

Barnaby's eyes grew wide. "Would you really? A tiny goldfish teaching a big bear to swim?"

"The best friends come in unexpected sizes," Glimmer said with a wink.

Every day that summer, Glimmer taught Barnaby how to float like a log, paddle with his big paws, and hold his breath underwater. At first, Barnaby was scared. He would splash and fluster, but Glimmer would sing encouraging songs and show him the right moves.

Then came the magical day when Barnaby finally kicked off from the shore and glided through the water like a furry boat. He felt light and free, dancing with the ripples. The other animals cheered as the bear who was afraid became the bear who could swim!

From that day on, Barnaby and Glimmer were the best swimming buddies. The bear who thought he was too big learned that the only thing that matters is having a brave heart and a good friend.

The moral: Even the biggest dreams become possible with courage and friendship.
