The Bear Who Caught Stars
Barnaby was a small bear with very big dreams. Every night, he would climb to the top of the tallest palm tree on his island and look up at the twinkling stars. "I wish I could play with them," he sighed, stretching his fluffy paws toward the sky.
One morning, something unusual washed up on the shore. It was round and white with red stitching—unlike anything Barnaby had ever seen. "What are you?" he poked it with his nose.
Just then, a little girl named Lila came running down the beach. "That's my baseball!" she called out. "Would you like to learn how to play?"
Barnaby's eyes widened. Lila taught him how to hold the ball, how to throw it, and how to swing a sturdy stick she called a bat. The bear was a natural! Every time he hit the ball, it soared higher and higher.
"You hit like you're trying to reach the stars," Lila laughed.
That evening, Barnaby had a wonderful idea. He climbed his favorite palm tree, baseball in paw, and waited for the first star to appear. When it twinkled above him, he tossed the ball up and swung with all his might.
POOF! The ball turned into a glowing star and floated up into the sky, joining its celestial friends.
"You did it!" cheered all the children who had gathered below. "You made your own star!"
Barnaby smiled warm and wide. He realized that wishes, like baseballs, sometimes need a little help to fly true. And that the best adventures are the ones you share with friends.
Now, if you look carefully on a clear night, you might spot a small star twinkling extra bright—that's Barnaby's star, still playing catch with the moon.
