The Bear Who Caught Lightning

In a cozy cave beside a rushing waterfall lived a small bear named Bramble. Unlike other bears who loved to splash and swim, Bramble was afraid of water. And unlike other bears who slept peacefully during storms, Bramble trembled at every flash of lightning.

One rainy afternoon, while searching for berries, Bramble discovered something peculiar. A patch of bright green spinach grew in a circle around an old oak tree. But this wasn't ordinary spinach—each leaf sparkled and shimmered like tiny stars trapped in green glass.

As thunder rumbled overhead, a bolt of lightning struck the oak tree. Instead of being frightened, Bramble watched in amazement. The lightning didn't burn the tree. Instead, it danced down the trunk and filled the spinach leaves with a soft golden glow.

A tiny creature made entirely of light popped out from between the glowing leaves. It was a Lightning Sprite, no bigger than a butterfly!

"Thank you for finding my garden!" the sprite chimed. "I've been stuck in this lightning bolt for years. Your courage let me out!"

"But I'm not brave," Bramble said. "I'm afraid of everything."

The sprite giggled and flew in a circle around Bramble's nose. "You stayed when lightning struck. You approached strange glowing plants. True courage isn't having no fear—it's being scared but doing something brave anyway."

The sprite sprinkled some magical spinach dust over Bramble. "Now you'll always remember: inside you is lightning-strong courage, waiting to shine through."

Suddenly, the waterfall roared louder than usual. A small fish had been washed onto the rocks, gasping for water! Without thinking, Bramble rushed through the spray and gently nudged the fish back into the pool. His fur was soaked, but his heart felt warm and bright.

"You did it!" cheered the sprite. "You faced your fear to help someone else!"

From that day on, whenever storms came, Bramble didn't hide. He would sit by his magical spinach patch, watching the lightning and remembering that true bravery lives in even the most fearful hearts.
