The Bear Who Blinked at Lightning

Barnaby was a small brown bear with very big eyes. He lived in a cozy treehouse with his grandmother, who gave him a special **vitamin** every morning. 'These are courage vitamins,' she'd say with a wink. Barnaby wasn't so sure. He was still afraid of lots of things, especially storms.

One evening, the sky turned dark purple. Thunder rumbled like a giant tummy. Barnaby hid under his blanket. But then he saw something amazing—**lightning** flashed in the shape of a dancing bear! Barnaby blinked. Had that really happened?

The next flash showed something even stranger. A stuffed toy was moving in the garden below—a ragged bunny with one ear, walking stiff and slow like a little **zombie**. But this zombie wasn't scary. It was looking for something in the grass.

Barnaby's heart raced, but he remembered his grandmother's words. He grabbed his flashlight and climbed down the treehouse.

'Are you lost?' Barnaby called.

The zombie bunny looked up with button eyes. 'I'm Zippo! I fell from a window during the storm. I'm looking for my special button.' Zippo's voice sounded like leaves rustling.

Barnaby helped search. Lightning flashed again, and Barnaby gasped. 'The lightning is making the magic vitamins glow!' The little vitamin he'd tucked in his pocket was shining like a tiny star.

Together they found the button—it was heart-shaped! When Zippo pressed it, rainbows sparkled around him.

'Thank you, Barnaby,' Zippo said. 'You were brave even though you were scared.'

Barnaby realized his grandmother was right. The real magic wasn't in the vitamin at all. It was inside him all along—courage, kindness, and an open heart.

From that night on, Barnaby never feared storms again. He'd just remember: even a bear, a zombie, and a lightning bolt can become the best of friends.
