The Bear's Orange Friend - Every Minute a Story

Barnaby was a very large bear with very small courage, especially when it came to water. While other bears splashed and played in the river, Barnaby stayed safely on dry land, watching from behind a mossy oak tree.

One hot afternoon, Barnaby discovered something magical rolling through the tall grass. It was the biggest, brightest orange he had ever seen, glowing like a tiny sun. As he reached out a gentle paw, the orange began to wiggle and sparkle.

"Hello!" chirped the orange, suddenly growing two twinkling eyes and a warm smile. "I'm Clementine! What's your name?"

Barnaby's jaw dropped. "You... you can talk?"

"Of course!" Clementine bounced happily. "I'm a magical friend, sent just for you. And I know what you need."

Clementine rolled toward the forest pool—a secret place where moonflowers bloomed and dragonflies danced. The water shimmered like liquid diamonds.

"It's beautiful," Barnaby whispered, "but... but I can't swim."

"That's okay!" Clementine beamed. "Neither could I at first. Watch this!" The tiny orange friend plopped into the pool and began floating, bobbing like a happy boat. "See? You just need to trust the water."

Barnaby's heart raced. What if he sank? What if the water was too deep?

Clementine rolled back to the edge. "I'll stay right beside you. We'll do it together, as friends."

Something warm and brave bloomed in Barnaby's chest. Slowly, carefully, the big bear stepped into the pool. Cool water tickled his fur. Deeper and deeper he went until... his paws left the bottom!

But Barnaby didn't sink. With Clementine floating beside him, cheering him on, Barnaby's paws began to move. Splash! Paddle! Kick! He was swimming!

They laughed and played until the sun set, turning the water orange and gold. Barnaby wasn't just a brave bear anymore—he was a brave bear with the best friend a bear could ever ask for.

That night, as Barnaby curled up in his cozy cave, he knew something wonderful: sometimes the scariest things lead to the best adventures, especially when you have a friend by your side.
