The Bear's Magic Mirror

Barnaby was a small brown bear with very big dreams. Every summer, all the bears in Pine Ridge Mountain went to Crystal Lake for swimming lessons. But Barnaby stayed on the shore, too afraid to splash.

One day, while the other bears practiced their backstrokes, Barnaby discovered something strange half-buried in the sand. It was smooth and black, with a shiny glass surface that reflected his worried face. He'd never seen anything like it in the forest.

"What ARE you?" Barnaby whispered, touching the mysterious object.

Suddenly, the glass face lit up with a soft glow! Tiny pictures danced across its surface—butterflies, rainbows, and something that looked very much like a bear swimming happily through blue water. Barnaby gasped. The magic mirror was showing him brave things!

"This must be an iPhone," said a wise old turtle nearby. "The humans leave them here sometimes. It shows pictures of courage."

Every day that week, Barnaby visited the iPhone. The glowing pictures showed him that swimming wasn't scary—it was like flying, but underwater! The magic mirror made him believe in himself.

On Friday, when all the bears lined up at Crystal Lake, Barnaby stepped forward.

"I'm ready," he said, his voice shaking only a little.

He waded into the cool water. Splash! Kick! Paddle! To everyone's surprise—especially his own—Barnaby was swimming! He glided through the water just like the bear in the magic pictures.

"You did it!" cheered his friends, splashing water everywhere. "You're a natural!"

That evening, Barnaby tucked the iPhone safely back in the sand. "Thank you, magic mirror," he whispered. "You helped me find my courage."

Barnaby learned something wonderful that summer: Sometimes bravery doesn't come from inside us alone. Sometimes, we find it in unexpected places—even in something as small as a forgotten phone that believes in us.

And every bear at Pine Ridge Mountain knew that the best swimming partner was the one who had been afraid to try at all.
