The Bear's Magic Garden
Lily loved exploring the woods behind her house. One sunny morning, she heard something splashing in the stream. Curious, she crept closer and peeked through the bushes.
There stood a big brown bear, but he wasn't scary at all. He was carefully planting green leaves in the soft earth beside the running water.
"Excuse me," Lily said bravely. "What are you planting?"
The bear jumped, then smiled gently. "Hello, little one. These are spinach seeds. Magic spinach seeds."
Lily's eyes widened. "Magic?"
"Yes," said the bear, whose name was Barnaby. "When the water runs over these special seeds, the spinach that grows can make your dreams come true. But only if you share it with others."
For weeks, Lily visited Barnaby. They watered the spinach together, and she told him about her dream to fly like a bird. Barnaby shared his dream to make friends, since most animals were afraid of him.
One day, the spinach was ready. Barnaby picked two leaves and handed one to Lily. "Eat this, then make a wish for someone else."
Lily ate her spinach leaf. It tasted sweet and sparkly! She closed her eyes and wished that Barnaby would find many friends who weren't afraid of him.
Suddenly, rabbits, deer, and squirrels appeared from the forest. They didn't run away. They gathered around Barnaby, who smiled with tears in his eyes.
"Thank you, Lily," Barnaby said. "You taught me that the best magic isn't in spinach or streams. It's in friendship and kindness."
From that day on, Barnaby had many friends. And Lily learned that helping others' dreams come true was even better than making her own wishes. The magic spinach only grew once, but its magic lived on in every kind deed they did together.
