The Bear's Home Run Magic

Lily sat in the outfield, her baseball glove resting on the grass. She didn't really want to be here. Her mom had packed her favorite sandwich for lunch—peanut butter and spinach. Spinach! Yuck!

Suddenly, the sky turned a sparkling purple. A giant bear tumbled out of nowhere, landing right near home plate. But this wasn't a scary bear. He wore a tiny baseball cap and held a bat made of moonlight.

"Hello!" the bear said, his voice sounding like honey and warm cookies. "I'm Barnaby, and I've traveled from the Starry Kingdom to learn baseball!"

Lily's jaw dropped. The other kids gathered around, their eyes wide with wonder.

Barnaby tried to hit the ball, but his arms were too wobbly. "Oh dear," he sighed. "Star travel makes bears very weak. I haven't eaten anything magical in days."

Lily looked at her sandwich. The spinach leaves were green and leafy. She remembered her mom saying spinach gave you super strength.

"Mr. Barnaby!" Lily called, running forward. "Try this! It's spinach—it makes you strong!"

The bear took a careful bite. His eyes sparkled like fireworks. "Amazing! I can feel the magic!" He spun around and hit the baseball so hard it turned into a shooting star and zoomed into the clouds.

All the children cheered. Barnaby danced on his hind legs, then handed Lily a small glowing baseball. "For kindness and bravery," he whispered. "Never judge something before trying it. Sometimes the things we think we don't like become our greatest treasures."

Barnaby vanished in a shower of sparkles, but Lily still had the glowing baseball. She took a bite of her spinach sandwich. It wasn't so bad after all. In fact, it was magical.
