The Bear's Baseball Friend

Benny was a curious brown bear who lived near a sparkling stream. Every afternoon, he would watch the children play baseball in the meadow beyond the trees. He loved the sound of the bat hitting the ball—*CRACK!*—and the cheers that followed.

One day, while peeking through the bushes, Benny noticed something glimmering in the shallow water near his paw. A tiny goldfish was trapped in a small pool, separated from the stream when the water level dropped.

"Don't worry, little friend," Benny rumbled softly. With his big claw, he carefully dug a channel until water rushed back in, setting the goldfish free.

The goldfish swam in happy circles, then popped up. "Thank you! I'm Goldie. What are you doing hiding in those bushes?"

Benny explained how he loved watching baseball but was too shy to join the children. Goldie listened, her scales flashing like tiny stars.

"I have an idea!" Goldie said. "If you help me reach the bigger stream, I'll help you with baseball."

For the next week, Benny practiced with Goldie's help. She would splash water to show him where to swing, and flick pebbles to help him catch. Benny learned to throw gently so he wouldn't hurt anyone.

When Benny finally joined the children's game, everyone gasped. But then they saw how carefully he threw and how joyfully he played. Soon, Benny became the team's best first baseman, always catching the ball with his big, gentle paws.

Goldie watched from the stream, splashing happily whenever Benny made a good play. They had discovered something wonderful: being brave enough to try new things could lead to the best friendships, and sometimes the most different creatures make the best teammates.

Every baseball season, Benny and Goldie proved that kindness and courage could create magic—whether you have fur, fins, or feet.
