The Bear in the Phone
Luna discovered the rainbow cable in her grandmother's attic, tucked inside an old wooden box. The cable sparkled like it contained captured sunlight, even in the dim attic dust. Luna, being nine and endlessly curious, took it to her room and plugged it into her iPhone.
The phone screen swirled with colors that reminded Luna of galaxy pictures. Then—pop! A tiny bear no bigger than Luna's thumb stepped out of the screen, shaking shimmering pixels from his brown fur.
"Thank you for freeing me!" the bear said, his voice like wind chimes. "I'm Berry. I've been trapped in Phone World for three hundred years."
Luna's eyes grew wide. "Phone World? Is that where apps live?"
Berry laughed. "Apps visit, but magical creatures live there. I was playing tag with a data sprite when I got stuck in a frozen moment of time. Only the rainbow cable could reach me."
Luna's phone chimed—her mother calling from downstairs. Luna looked at Berry with worry. "My parents won't believe a bear came out of my iPhone."
"Watch this." Berry waved his paw, and suddenly he looked like a very realistic stuffed animal. "I can be your teddy bear. But at night, when everyone sleeps, we'll use the rainbow cable to visit Phone World. It's beautiful there—flowers made of music, trees that grow emojis, and rivers of streaming light."
Luna grinned. "We'll be best friends, Berry. Bridge between two worlds."
"And," Berry whispered, "friends who help each other are the strongest magic of all."
That night, under starlight, Luna and Berry held the rainbow cable together. The cable glowed warm in their hands, and Luna understood: some connections need more than wires—they need hearts.
Every evening after homework, Luna and Berry adventured through phone screens, helping lost data sprites find their way home and collecting stories like precious gems. The rainbow cable never stopped sparkling, reminding Luna that magic exists in the most unexpected places—even inside something as ordinary as a cable, if you have a friend to share it with.
