The Bear in the Magic Puddle

In a house filled with screens and glowing lights, young Lily sat tapping on her iPhone, watching videos of places she'd never visit. Her room was quiet except for the bleeps and bloops of digital games.

One rainy afternoon, a mysterious puddle appeared on her bedroom floor—water that shimmered with rainbow colors even without sunlight. Curious, Lily knelt and touched it with her open palm.

Suddenly, the puddle swirled like a tiny tornado, and out popped a stuffed bear she'd thought lost forever! But this wasn't the same flat teddy. This bear twinkled with magic, its button eyes glowing warm amber.

"I'm Barnaby," the bear said in a voice like rustling autumn leaves. "And you've been forgetting something important."

Lily set down her iPhone. "What?"

"How to pretend!" Barnaby took her hand. "Come with me."

They jumped into the puddle together!

Inside was a world where running made you fly and trees grew upside down. Streams of sparkling water flowed sideways, and flowers sang gentle melodies. Barnaby showed Lily how to surf on fallen leaves and catch stars in jars made of morning dew.

They played for hours—maybe days. Time worked differently here. Lily felt alive in a way no game had ever made her feel.

"You should visit more often," Barnaby said as they returned to her room. "Real magic needs imagination to work, and yours is very strong."

Lily looked at her dark iPhone screen, then at her magical friend.

"I will," she promised, hugging Barnaby tight. "Every time it rains."

And she did—because some adventures are better lived than watched.
