The Bear and the Golden Pyramid

Lily had the most extraordinary hair – it sprouted in every direction like a fluffy golden dandelion. Children giggled, but Lily didn't mind. Her grandmother said it meant she had magic inside.

One afternoon, Lily wandered into the forest and found something shimmering between the trees – a miniature golden pyramid no bigger than a tea cup. When she touched it, the pyramid hummed and grew until it towered above her, its surface gleaming with ancient symbols.

Inside, Lily discovered not treasure, but the most enormous teddy bear she had ever seen. He sat cross-legged on a velvet cushion, wearing spectacles and reading a book about star-fishing.

"Hello there!" the bear rumbled. "I've been waiting for someone with special hair."

"You can talk?" Lily gasped.

"All sorts of things talk when you listen properly," said the bear, whose name was Barnaby.

In the pyramid's center swam a goldfish in a crystal bowl that seemed to hold an entire galaxy. Her scales shifted from sunrise orange to midnight blue.

"I am Stella," sang the goldfish, her voice like silver bells. "I grant one wish to those who are truly themselves."

Lily thought hard. She could wish for anything – straight hair, a castle, endless candy. But she remembered how her grandmother said her wild hair meant magic.

"I wish," Lily said, "to always be exactly who I am – hair and all."

Stella swirled into a rainbow of bubbles. "Granted! But remember – magic isn't in the wishing. It's in the WONDERING."

The pyramid shrank back to pocket size. Lily tucked it into her bag, waved goodbye to Barnaby and Stella, and skipped home.

That night, Lily brushed her wild curls and smiled in the mirror. Her hair wasn't messy – it was magnificent. And somewhere, in a miniature pyramid on her shelf, a bear and a goldfish winked at each other, knowing they'd found someone who understood the most important magic of all: being yourself.
