The Baseball Who Could Fly
Tommy loved his baseball more than anything. It was orange and bumpy, with stitching like a smile. Every day, he'd throw it high and watch it soar.
One summer afternoon, Tommy threw his ball so high it disappeared. He searched everywhere - behind the garden shed, under the old oak tree, even near the grumpy bull who lived in the pasture next door. The bull just chewed grass and stared with big, gentle eyes.
"Have you seen my baseball?" Tommy whispered. The bull blinked slowly.
That evening, Tommy spotted something sparkling in the forbidden pool behind Mrs. Willow's house. He crept closer like a spy on a secret mission. Peeking through the bushes, he gasped.
His baseball was floating in the center of the pool. But it wasn't just floating - it was GLOWING.
Suddenly, the bull from the pasture appeared beside him. "I've been waiting for someone brave enough to find it," the bull said softly. "That's no ordinary baseball. It's a wishing ball."
Tommy's eyes widened. "You can talk?"
"Special balls make special things happen," the bull winked. "Throw it again, and make a wish."
Tommy reached into the magical pool. The ball felt warm and tingly. He threw it high as he could. "I wish I could understand animals!" he shouted.
The ball burst into sparkles that rained down like stardust. When Tommy blinked, he could hear birds singing songs and crickets telling jokes. The bull smiled.
"Now you're part of the magic," said the bull. "But remember - the best magic is shared with friends."
Tommy nodded. He knew exactly what to do. The next day, he brought all his friends to the pool. And together, they discovered that the best wishes aren't the ones you keep for yourself - they're the ones you share with everyone.
The baseball still floats in that pool sometimes. And if you're lucky enough to spot it glowing, you just might discover that magic lives wherever friendship grows.
