The Baseball That Grew Gardens
Lily loved her grandpa's old baseball. It was scuffed and brown, with stitches that looked like a sneaky smile. Every afternoon, she'd toss it high and catch it with a grin.
One hot summer day, Lily threw the ball a little too far. It sailed over the fence and landed—plop!—right into her neighbor's swimming pool. The water rippled and turned a sparkly green color, like emerald jewels dancing.
Lily ran to the fence, her curly hair bouncing with every step. But when she peeked over, something magical happened. The baseball floated to the surface, and suddenly, bright green leaves sprouted from its seams!
Mrs. Higgins, the neighbor, came outside. "Well I never!" she exclaimed. "That baseball is growing spinach!"
Lily's eyes widened. The spinach leaves grew bigger and bigger until the ball looked like a tiny green planet. Then—pop!—the baseball burst open, and hundreds of little seeds floated into the air.
Wherever the seeds landed, beautiful gardens sprang up instantly. Flowers bloomed in rainbow colors. Tomato plants grew tall as sunflowers. Carrots popped up like orange treasures.
Mrs. Higgins laughed with delight. "Your baseball brought magic to my old pool! Now I have the most beautiful garden in the neighborhood!"
From that day on, Lily and Mrs. Higgins became best friends. They tended the magical garden together, and every time Lily threw her baseball, something wonderful grew.
Lily learned that magic hides in unexpected places—even inside an old baseball. And that the best adventures start with a single throw into the unknown.
