The Baseball That Could See Secrets

Ten-year-old Toby loved two things: playing baseball in his backyard and watching the sparkling creek behind his house. One sunny afternoon, while chasing a home run ball, something magical happened.

Toby's baseball splashed into the creek. But instead of sinking, it bobbed to the surface glowing with soft blue light. When he pulled it out, the ball felt warm in his hands, and suddenly he could see ripples in the water forming pictures—secret pictures!

The water showed him where his little sister's lost teddy bear was hiding under the porch. It revealed that the neighborhood cats were having secret meetings at midnight. Toby had become a water spy! The baseball was his magic spy glass.

"This is amazing!" Toby whispered, watching the water show images of his friend Emma's missing calculator floating in a puddle behind the school.

But being a spy meant making choices. One day, the water showed Toby that his friend Sam was planning a surprise birthday party for him. A good spy would keep secrets, but Toby felt guilty knowing something so special.

"Some secrets are too happy to keep," Toby's mom said when he asked for advice. "True friends share joy."

At the party, Sam was amazed when Toby acted surprised. "How did you not know?" Sam asked. "I'm terrible at keeping secrets!"

Toby smiled, patting his magic baseball in his pocket. "Sometimes the best thing about knowing secrets is choosing which ones to share."

From that day on, Toby used his water spy powers to help people find lost things, but he never peeked at happy surprises again. The magic baseball had taught him that true friendship was better than any secret.
