The Baseball That Caught Lightning
Max loved baseball more than anything. Every day after school, he'd grab his glove and run to the park, even when clouds gathered like giant gray pillows in the sky.
One afternoon, as thunder rumbled like a sleeping giant waking up, Max saw something amazing. A single bolt of lightning flashed across the sky, and where it touched the ground, a baseball appeared—glowing like a captured star!
Max crept closer, his heart beating faster than a drum roll. The ball pulsed with light, changing colors from silver to gold to soft blue. When he picked it up, warmth spread through his fingers like a cozy blanket.
"You're special," Max whispered.
That night, something magical happened. When Max placed the glowing baseball next to his iPhone, the screen flickered to life on its own. Photos appeared—pictures of baseball games from long ago, players in old-fashioned uniforms, and children playing in fields that stretched forever.
The baseball had memories!
Max discovered that whenever lightning struck near his house, the baseball glowed brighter, and his iPhone showed more magical pictures—baseball games on clouds, players sliding down rainbows, balls that left trails of stardust when thrown.
But Max noticed something sad. In every picture, the baseball looked lonely, rolling across empty fields, waiting for someone to pick it up.
"You were waiting for me," Max realized. "All this time."
The next day, Max invited everyone to the park—friends, neighbors, even kids who'd never played before. They played until sunset, the magical baseball bringing joy to every person who held it.
That evening, as lightning flashed in the distance, Max's iPhone showed one final picture: the baseball, surrounded by laughing children, glowing brighter than ever.
Some things aren't meant to be kept secrets, Max understood. Magic grows when shared.
And somewhere, beyond the clouds, the lightning smiled, knowing it had brought exactly the right ball to exactly the right person.
