The Baseball Pyramid
Lily loved her red baseball hat more than anything. She wore it everywhere — to school, to the park, even to breakfast! Her dad had given it to her before his long trip, and it made her feel brave.
One afternoon, Lily was playing baseball in her backyard when she noticed something strange. A thick golden cable stretched across the sky, disappearing behind the old oak tree. Being the curious girl she was, Lily followed it.
The cable led her to a secret meadow she'd never seen before. In the center stood a glowing pyramid made of crystal! It sparkled in the sunlight, casting rainbows everywhere.
"Hello?" Lily called out, clutching her baseball tight.
From behind the pyramid appeared a massive but gentle creature — a golden bull with kind brown eyes and fur that shimmered like sunshine.
"I've been waiting for you," the bull spoke softly. "I'm Baxter, guardian of the Wishing Pyramid. Are you brave enough to help me?"
Lily nodded, her heart racing with excitement. "What do you need?"
"The pyramid's magic is fading," Baxter explained. "It needs something precious — something given with love. Do you have such a treasure?"
Lily thought hard. She looked at her baseball hat — her most prized possession. But then she remembered her father's words: "True bravery isn't about holding onto things. It's about letting go when it matters most."
She took off her hat and placed it gently on the pyramid. "This was a gift from my dad. I love it very much."
The pyramid glowed brighter than ever! The baseball hat transformed into thousands of glowing butterflies that filled the meadow with light.
"Thank you," Baxter said warmly. "Your gift has restored the magic. Now, what's your wish, brave Lily?"
Lily thought carefully. "I wish for my dad to come home safe and soon."
Baxter smiled, and the cable above them pulsed with golden light. "Your wish will travel across the world to reach him. And your kindness will always return to you."
When Lily got home, her mom was on the phone — her dad was coming home a week early! Lily touched her head, surprised to find her baseball hat back, now with a small crystal pyramid charm attached to the brim.
Sometimes, letting go of what we love brings us even greater joy in return.
