The Baseball Pool Kingdom
Leo stood at the edge of the old pool in his backyard, clutching his favorite baseball. The pool had been empty for years, or so he thought. But today, after the big rainstorm, something sparkled deep within.
He tossed his baseball into the water, expecting a splash. Instead, the water began to glow like liquid stars. Ripples turned into waves that reached up to him like friendly hands.
"Hello!" a voice bubbled up.
A girl made entirely of water droplets surfaced. She wore a crown made of pool noodles and held a bat made of coral. "I'm Marina! Welcome to my kingdom!"
Leo's eyes widened. "You live here?"
"When the moon smiles on the water, I appear!" Marina twirled, sending droplets dancing around her. "We're playing baseball against the Sun Team. Want to join?"
"But I can't breathe underwater!"
Marina giggled. "In my pool, anyone can swim like a fish! Just jump in!"
Leo took a breath and plunged into the magical water. To his amazement, he could breathe! He was swimming alongside colorful fish who wore tiny baseball caps.
The game began! Marina pitched a ball made of bubbles. Leo swung his bat—also made of coral—and hit a home run! The ball flew through the water like a shooting star, leaving a trail of rainbow bubbles.
"You're amazing!" cheered Marina, high-fiving him with her watery hand.
For hours, they played baseball with crabs, raced with seahorses, and had tea parties with jellyfish. Leo felt like he'd found the best friend in the whole world.
As the sun began to set, Marina grew translucent. "I have to go now," she said sadly. "But you can visit whenever the moon smiles on the water."
"Will you really be here?" Leo asked, his heart feeling full.
"Always," Marina promised. "That's what friends do. They're there when you need them most."
Leo climbed out of the pool, now just ordinary water again. But in his pocket, he found something magical—a baseball made of tiny seashells that shimmered like the moon.
Every night, when the moon smiles, Leo looks out his window and sees ripples in the old pool. And he knows his friend is waiting for their next baseball game in the magical water kingdom beneath the stars.
