The Baseball Game in the Stars

Lily discovered the dusty old iPhone in her grandmother's attic, hidden inside a wooden chest wrapped in silk. When she pressed the button, the screen didn't show apps or games. Instead, it glowed with twinkling lights.

She held it up to the window and gasped. Through the screen, the night sky looked different — alive and magical. The Big Dipper wasn't just stars anymore. A giant bear with shaggy brown hair stretched across the heavens, his fur made of shimmering stardust.

"Hello there!" the bear called down, his voice like distant thunder. "We're one player short for our baseball game!"

Before Lily could speak, the iPhone pulled her upward in a swirl of sparkles. She found herself standing on a cloud, where a magnificent bull with a coat the color of moonlight stood waiting.

"I'm Orion," the bull said kindly. "Would you like to play?"

Lily's curly hair bounced as she nodded eagerly. The bear handed her a baseball made of condensed starlight. When she threw it, the ball left trails of silver across the sky. The bull hit it with his horn, and the ball sailed through constellations, waking up sleeping stars with its glow.

They played until dawn approached, painting the sky with new patterns. The bear taught her that friendship shines brightest when shared. The bull showed her that even the strongest creatures are gentle at heart.

"Time to go home," the bear whispered as the first light appeared. "But remember, whenever you look at the stars, we'll be playing."

Lily woke up in her bed, the iPhone beside her. When she looked at the night sky through her window, she saw the bear and bull wink at her before fading into morning. That night, she drew a baseball field in the stars and knew she would never feel lonely again. True friends, she learned, are never far away — sometimes they're just written in the stars.
