The Baseball Bull's Secret
Leo loved baseball more than anything. Every day after school, he'd grab his glove and run to the field, dreaming of hitting the perfect home run. But Leo had a problem — he was afraid of the water. While his friends splashed in the lake during summer, Leo stayed on dry land, safe and sorry.
One hot afternoon, Leo's baseball rolled into the meadow behind the old barn. He chased after it and stopped cold. There, standing by the fence, was the biggest bull he'd ever seen. Its horns curved like crescent moons, and its coat was the color of chocolate milk.
"Lost your ball?" the bull asked.
Leo's mouth fell open. "You can talk!"
"I can do more than talk," the bull said with a wink. "I'm Barnaby. Want to see something amazing?"
Barnaby led Leo to a hidden pond behind the trees. Then, to Leo's shock, the enormous bull jumped into the water and began swimming! He glided through the pond like a submarine, his powerful legs kicking gracefully.
"How?" Leo gasped.
"Everyone has hidden talents," Barnaby said. "Even bulls who look too big for the water. Even boys who think they're too scared to try."
That afternoon, Barnaby taught Leo to swim. The bull stayed close, cheering him on. "You're doing great, friend! Water's just another field to play on."
When Leo finally swam across the pond, he felt like he'd hit the biggest home run ever.
"You were right," Leo told Barnaby. "I was scared, but trying new things feels magical."
Barnaby nodded. "That's the real secret — courage isn't not being afraid. It's being afraid and doing it anyway. Now, let's play some baseball!"
And so Leo learned that the best adventures happen when you're brave enough to dive in — whether into water or into friendship with a swimming bull who loved baseball too.
