The Baseball Angel

Lily's best friend Sam had the wildest hair in the whole neighborhood—it stuck up like brown grass after a rainstorm, and no amount of combing could tame it. That's why Lily wasn't surprised when Sam found something magical.

They were digging for buried treasure in Sam's backyard when Sam's shovel hit something hard. An old iPhone, covered in dirt but still glowing with a strange blue light.

"It belonged to my grandpa," Sam said, wiping dirt from the screen. "He loved baseball more than anything."

That night, Lily couldn't sleep. She kept thinking about that iPhone and how Sam had looked so lonely since moving to this new town. What if the phone could help?

Creeping downstairs, Lily found the iPhone on the kitchen counter. She touched the screen, and suddenly—WHOOSH! A holographic baseball diamond appeared in her kitchen, tiny players racing around bases.

"Make a wish," whispered a voice like wind through leaves.

Lily wished for something impossible: she wished for Sam to find the perfect baseball team.

The next morning, Sam's wild hair was even messier than usual—sticking straight up with excitement. "Lily! You won't believe it! I dreamed about Grandpa's baseball team, and when I woke up, there was a flyer on our door. Tryouts for the neighborhood league!"

At the park that afternoon, Sam hit the ball so far it disappeared into the clouds. The coach laughed and said, "That's the spirit of a true baseball player!"

But what made Lily smile most wasn't Sam's home run. It was how Sam high-fived every kid on the team, even the ones who struck out. That's when Lily understood—magic wasn't just in glowing iPhones or impossible wishes.

Real magic was helping a friend find where they belonged.

That night, the iPhone's blue light faded away, its work done. Some adventures, Lily realized, don't need batteries at all.
