Sunny's Starlight Secret

Mia's golden retriever Sunny had a secret. Every night, while the house slept, Sunny would creep to the backyard, pull out something that looked like an iPhone but glowed with rainbow light, and whisper into it.

One Tuesday, Mia tiptoed outside and discovered Sunny's magical mission. The phone wasn't a phone at all—it was a Starlight Communicator, connecting Sunny to the Dog Star Council above.

"Sunny!" Mia gasped. "What are you doing?"

Sunny's tail thumped nervously. "I'm a Starlight Guardian. Every night, I collect happy thoughts and mix them with magic vitamin dust from the Dog Star. Then I sprinkle it on children's hair while they sleep. It makes them brave and kind."

Mia touched her own brown hair. "Really?"

"See that sparkle?" Sunny pointed with his nose. "That's courage vitamin. When you stand up to bullies tomorrow, your hair will glow like sunshine."

But suddenly, the Starlight Communicator flickered. Its rainbow light dimmed to gray.

"Oh no!" Sunny whimpered. "The connection is breaking! The Dog Star Council can't send more vitamin dust. Without it, children won't have their courage sparkles tomorrow!"

Mia's heart raced. "How can we fix it?"

"The Communicator runs on friendship magic," Sunny explained. "I need to remember why being your friend matters most."

Mia hugged Sunny tight. "You're my best friend because when I'm scared, you make me brave. When I'm lonely, you make me laugh. When I cry, you lick away my tears."

The Communicator pulsed brighter. A rainbow beam shot into the sky, connecting to the stars.

"It's working!" Sunny barked joyfully. "The vitamin dust is flowing again!"

That night, Mia helped Sunny sprinkle courage vitamin on every child's hair in the neighborhood. And when Mia woke up for school the next day, her hair shimmered with tiny stars.

She smiled at Sunny, who pretended to be just a regular sleeping dog. But Mia knew better. True friendship, she discovered, was the most powerful magic of all.
