Sparky's Lightning Surprise

Lily loved her golden retriever, Sparky, more than anything in the world. He had the softest golden hair that shimmered in the sunlight, and he always made her laugh when he chased his tail in circles.

One rainy afternoon, Lily's grandmother gave her a small bottle. "This is a special vitamin," Grandma said with a twinkle in her eye. "It's for brave adventurers who need extra courage."

Lily wasn't sure she believed in magic vitamins, but she loved adventures. She decided to give half to Sparky and take half herself. After all, every adventurer needs a brave companion!

Suddenly, the sky outside turned dark purple. CRACK! BOOM! The most magnificent lightning flashed across the window, shaped like a giant sparkling dog. Lily gasped when she looked at Sparky—his golden hair was glowing with tiny sparks of light!

"Sparky, your hair is... it's shining like little stars!" Lily cried out in wonder.

Sparky barked happily, and each bark made small lightning bolts dance around the room. Lily reached out to touch his glowing fur, and instead of feeling shocked, she felt warm and happy, like drinking hot cocoa on a snowy day.

Then Lily noticed something outside. The neighbor's cat was stuck in a tree, meowing sadly as rain started to fall. The branch was breaking!

"We have to help!" Lily shouted. Sparky seemed to understand. He ran toward the tree, his lightning-filled hair illuminating the dark yard. With each bound, he left small glowing paw prints on the grass.

When Sparky reached the tree, he did something amazing. He jumped higher than any normal dog could, his glowing hair lighting up the whole night like a miniature lightning bolt. The cat, seeing the bright light, jumped safely into Sparky's soft, glowing fur.

The whole neighborhood cheered as Sparky carried the cat home, his hair still sparkling like magic fireworks. Grandma was waiting on the porch with cookies, smiling like she knew exactly what would happen.

"The real magic wasn't the vitamin at all," Grandma whispered. "It was the brave heart inside you both, and the friendship you share. That's the strongest magic of all."

That night, Lily fell asleep with Sparky curled beside her. His hair wasn't glowing anymore, but Lily knew the magic was still there—inside the heart of her very best friend, who would always be brave enough to light up the dark.
