Sparkle's Orange Magic

Lily peered into the shimmering blue water of her backyard pool. Something flashed orange beneath the surface!

"Hello?" she whispered, leaning closer.

To her amazement, a tiny goldfish with scales as bright as a sunset surfaced. The fish wasn't just any goldfish — it was the most brilliant orange she had ever seen.

"I'm Sparkle," the goldfish spoke in a voice like tinkling bells. "And you must be my new friend!"

Lily rubbed her eyes. "You can talk?"

"Magic goldfish always talk!" Sparkle did a joyful flip, splashing droplets that turned into tiny rainbows. "But I'm lonely swimming here all alone. Would you like an adventure?"

Lily's eyes widened. "Yes! But how? I don't have my swimsuit."

Sparkle smiled, and suddenly the pool water began to glow with orange light. "Just touch the water and make a wish!"

Lily dipped her finger in. "I wish I could swim with you!"

POOF! In a swirl of orange sparkles, Lily transformed into a tiny girl with a beautiful orange tail — she was now a mermaid!

"Come swimming!" Sparkle cheered.

Together they dove deep, discovering an entire magical kingdom beneath the pool. There were castles made of seashells, gardens of swaying seaweed, and treasures sparkling everywhere.

"This is amazing!" Lily exclaimed, twirling in the water.

Sparkle nudged her gently. "Being a friend means sharing adventures. But also sharing something important."

"What?"

"The magic won't last forever," Sparkle said softly. "But real friendship lasts even after the magic fades."

Lily understood. The adventure was wonderful, but what mattered most was the bond they were forming.

As the orange glow faded, Lily found herself back at the pool's edge, dripping wet but smiling.

"Will I see you again?" she asked.

"Every time you visit," Sparkle promised. "That's what friends do — they keep coming back."

Lily ran inside, eager to tell her family about her orange goldfish friend and the magical afternoon they'd shared swimming together.

And every day after school, she returned to the pool, ready for another adventure with her very best friend.
