Spark and the Storm Court
Luna loved her golden retriever Spark more than anything in the world. But what nobody knew—not even Luna—was that Spark had a magical secret.
One afternoon, while Luna was practicing at the old padel court behind her house, the sky turned purple. Storm clouds gathered faster than Luna had ever seen. Thunder rumbled like a giant waking from a long nap.
"Spark, we need to go home!" Luna called, grabbing her racquet.
But Spark wouldn't move. He stood frozen, staring at the chain-link fence at the edge of the court. His fur was crackling with tiny bolts of lightning—golden, not silver. Luna gasped. Spark could summon lightning!
A strange blue light pulsed from the padel court's center circle. Before Luna could blink, she and Spark were sucked right into the ground—but not underground. INTO it.
They landed with a splash. Luna found herself swimming through air that felt like water. Glowing fish floated past. Spark paddled beside her, grinning.
"Welcome to the Storm Kingdom," a voice echoed.
A creature made entirely of lightning appeared—a being with kind eyes and a body that crackled and shimmered. "I am the Storm Keeper. My kingdom is fading because humans have forgotten to respect the power of storms."
Luna's heart raced. "How can we help?"
The Storm Keeper smiled. "You already have. Spark is one of my special guardians—he chose you as his human. Your friendship with him proves that kindness and wonder still exist."
Spark barked, and lightning swirled around them like sparkles. Suddenly, Luna was back at the padel court, the sun breaking through the clouds.
She looked at Spark, who wagged his tail. Luna had always loved storms. Now she knew they held magic—if you looked with your heart.
That night, running home with Spark, Luna noticed something new. Her shadow shimmered with tiny bolts of golden lightning. The Storm Keeper's gift.
She whispered to Spark, "We're going to have amazing adventures, you and me."
Spark licked her face, and Luna felt the magic of storms in every drop of rain forever after.
