Penny's Midnight Baseball Mission
Penny's cat, Whiskers, wasn't ordinary. Every night at midnight, Whiskers would tap on Penny's window with his paw. One Saturday, Penny was ready. She grabbed her lucky baseball and climbed down the trellis.
"Tonight, you're a spy," Whiskers seemed to say as he led her through moonlit streets. Penny crept behind fences and peeked around corners, her heart racing with excitement.
They arrived at the old playground where something strange was happening. A small toy bull—Penny recognized it from the toy store window—was stuck at the top of the slide. But that wasn't the weird part.
Three children were doing a slow, goofy walk with arms stretched out.
"We're zombies!" they chanted, giggling. "Brains... baseballs... more brains!"
They were playing zombies, and they needed Penny's help. The toy bull had been thrown too high, and none of them could reach it.
"I've got this," Penny whispered. She stepped out from the shadows. "Need a spy's help?"
The children gasped. Penny tossed her baseball—it spun through the air and knocked the toy bull gently down the slide. The bull landed perfectly in the waiting hands of the smallest child.
"Thank you!" the girl cried, hugging the bull. "I saved my allowance for three weeks to buy him!"
Whiskers purred loudly, rubbing against Penny's legs. The other children gathered around, amazed by her trick.
"Where did you learn to throw like that?" a boy asked.
Penny smiled mysteriously. "A spy never reveals her secrets."
As they walked home under starlight, Whiskers trotting proudly beside her, Penny realized something wonderful: sometimes the best adventures happen when you're brave enough to help someone else. And having a magical cat who believed in you didn't hurt either.
