Molly's Magic Hair

friendrunninghair

Molly had the most curious hair in the whole world. No matter how much she brushed it or braided it or put it in ponytails, her hair always escaped – bouncing around her face like excited springy noodles, tangling with tree branches when she walked past, and even catching leaves right out of the air.

One sunny afternoon, Molly was running through Whispering Woods, playing her favorite game of chase-the-shadows. Her golden curls were streaming behind her like a comet's tail, glowing in the dappled sunlight.

Suddenly, her hair tugged – hard!

"Ouch!" Molly stopped and looked back. Her curls had wrapped around something solid. She followed the twisty trail of her hair and gasped.

There, tangled gently in her golden locks, sat the tiniest creature she had ever seen – no bigger than her thumb, with sparkly wings like polished opals and skin that shimmered like moonlight on water.

"Hello!" the creature squeaked in a voice like twinkling bells. "I'm Pip! You're the first human whose hair has ever noticed me!"

Molly knelt down carefully. "Your name is Pip? That's a wonderful name!"

Pip fluttered free and landed on Molly's nose. "I've been lost for three days! I was running away from a Grumble-Grouch – it's a grumpy cloud that tries to make everyone sad. Can I be your friend?"

"Yes!" Molly said without even thinking. "But Pip, where will you live?"

"Right here!" Pip patted Molly's wild curls. "Your hair is like a magical forest! So many places to hide and play! And whenever you're running, your hair creates the perfect breeze for flying!"

From that day on, Molly never tried to tame her hair again. Instead, she wore it with pride – a glorious, tangled, magical forest home for her best friend Pip. And together they discovered that the things that make us different are often the very things that make us wonderful.

Sometimes, when you see a girl with wild, untamable hair dancing through the woods, look closely. You might just see a tiny sparkle among the curls, running on the breeze of true friendship.
