Molly and the Lightning Friend
Molly was a curious girl with wild curly hair that bounced when she walked. Every evening, she helped her mother in their small garden behind their apartment building. Her favorite plant was the bright green spinach that grew in the corner patch.
One stormy afternoon, Molly was watching the rain through her window when something strange happened. A bolt of lightning flashed nearby, and she saw a tiny glowing figure dancing between the spinach plants!
Molly grabbed her yellow raincoat and rushed outside. There, sitting on a spinach leaf, was a little creature no bigger than her thumb. He had silver hair that sparkled like stars and wore a suit made of lightning bolts.
"Hello!" said the creature. "I'm Flash! I'm a lightning spirit, and I got separated from my family during the storm."
Molly couldn't believe her eyes. A real magical creature in her garden!
"Don't worry," she said. "You can stay with me. I'll be your friend."
Flash's eyes lit up. "A friend? I've never had a friend before! Lightning spirits usually travel alone."
Molly gently carried Flash inside in her pocket. She showed him her room, her books, and even let him look at her iphone, which made Flash gasp with wonder.
"This box has lightning inside too!" Flash exclaimed, touching the screen.
For three days, Molly and Flash became best friends. They read stories together, played games, and Flash even helped the spinach grow faster by giving it tiny zaps of magical energy. The spinach grew enormous and delicious!
But on the third evening, Flash looked sad. "I need to go home, Molly. My family must be worried."
Molly's heart sank, but she knew he was right. That night, during another storm, they stood in the garden.
"Will I ever see you again?" Molly asked, hugging her friend.
Flash smiled. "Look for me in the lightning! And remember, true friendship never fades, just like lightning always returns to the sky."
With a brilliant flash, Zoom shot up into the storm clouds, leaving a trail of sparkles. Molly watched him go, feeling both sad and happy.
The next morning, Molly discovered that all her spinach had grown overnight — the biggest, most beautiful spinach anyone had ever seen. And whenever lightning flashed in future storms, Molly would smile, knowing her friend was saying hello from above.
Molly learned that magic exists everywhere, even in a garden patch, and that the best friends are the ones who touch your heart, no matter how briefly they're in your life.
