Milo and the Sphinx's Riddle

iphonehairspysphinx

Milo had the craziest hair in the whole third grade. It stuck up like brown grass after a rainstorm, and no amount of combing could make it lie flat. But Milo didn't mind. His wild hair made him feel special, like a character from one of his adventure books.

One Saturday, Milo found his dad's old iphone tucked away in a junk drawer. The screen was cracked, but when Milo pressed the home button, it lit up with a mysterious app he'd never seen before: "Sphinx Finder."

"That's weird," Milo whispered. His heart began to race. Could this be a spy device?

Suddenly, the screen glowed golden, and a voice rumbled like distant thunder. "WHO DARES SUMMON THE SPHINX?"

Milo's bedroom wall shimmered like a heat wave, and a magnificent creature stepped through. She had the body of a golden lion and the wise face of a human. Her eyes sparkled like ancient stars.

"I am the Sphinx of Riddles," she said, curling up on Milo's rug. "I have been trapped in your human devices for one thousand years. Only a clever child can solve my riddle and set me free."

Milo stood up straight. "I love riddles! I want to be a spy detective when I grow up."

The Sphinx smiled. "Then listen closely: I have a face but no eyes, hands but no arms. I know everything but remember nothing. What am I?"

Milo paced around his room, his wild hair bouncing with each step. He thought about clocks, books, maps... and then it clicked.

"A clock!" Milo shouted. "A clock has a face and hands, but it can't see or hold anything. It tells time but doesn't remember what happened yesterday!"

The Sphinx's golden fur shimmered brighter than the sun. "CORRECT!" She roared with joy. "You have freed me, clever child. But wait—your hair..."

The Sphinx gently touched Milo's wild brown curls with her paw. "Your hair is perfect just as it is. It shows you have a wild, wonderful imagination. Never let anyone tame it."

"Thank you, Sphinx!" Milo beamed.

"And take this," she said, pressing her paw to the cracked iphone. "Now you can visit anytime you need wisdom."

The Sphinx stepped back through the shimmering wall, disappearing into golden dust. The iphone screen went dark, but Milo knew his new friend was never truly gone. He touched his wild hair and smiled. Some mysteries, he realized, were better than spy gadgets any day.
