Max's Midnight Baseball Friend
Max loved the old baseball field behind his house. Every night, he'd peek through his bedroom window, watching the moonlight dance across the dusty diamond. But tonight was different.
A crack of lightning split the sky, illuminating something extraordinary — someone was playing baseball! IN THE STORM!
Max grabbed his raincoat and started running toward the field. Raindrops pattered like tiny drumbeats on his hood. As he crept closer, he spotted a girl about his age, swinging a baseball bat that shimmered with an otherworldly glow.
"I knew you'd come," she said, turning with a grin. "I'm Luna. I'm a spy for the Storm King."
"A SPY?" Max's eyes went wide. "But why here?"
"The Storm King sends lightning to power the stars," Luna explained, tossing him the glowing baseball. "But sometimes, lightning bolts get lost. My job is to catch them and hit them back home. Like baseball!"
Max couldn't believe it. "So those sparks..."
"Are baby stars waiting to be born," Luna winked. "Want to help?"
Together, they played the most magical game of baseball ever. Each time Max hit the glowing ball, it soared into the clouds, creating beautiful bursts of light that became new stars.
"You're a natural!" Luna cheered. "The Storm King will be so pleased!"
As the storm passed, Luna handed Max something special — a tiny baseball that sparkled like a captured star.
"You're my friend now, Max. Whenever you see lightning, remember: you helped make the stars shine."
The next morning, Max discovered his new friend had left him something else — his own backyard now had a baseball diamond made of stardust, waiting for midnight games.
Sometimes the best adventures happen when you're brave enough to step into the storm.
