Max and the Moon Vitamins
Lily's golden retriever Max was acting very strange. He walked slowly, with stiff legs, and his tail didn't wag. His eyes looked sleepy and far away.
"Max looks like a zombie!" Lily's little brother giggled.
Lily frowned. Max wasn't a zombie—he was her best friend, and something was wrong. She noticed his dog dish was empty except for one colorful pill. Grandma's special vitamins! Max must have eaten them all.
"Those vitamins were for energy," Grandma said, scratching Max's head. "But I think Max got too much energy and now he's all tuckered out. He needs a swim in Magic Moon Lake to wake up properly."
Lily's eyes widened. Magic Moon Lake! She had heard stories about its glowing waters, but Grandma always said it was too far for a little girl.
"Please, Grandma? For Max?"
Grandma smiled. "Alright, my brave adventurer. Pack your bag."
They hiked through the Whispering Woods, where trees rustled secrets and fireflies danced like tiny stars. When they reached Magic Moon Lake, Lily gasped. The water shimmered with silver light, and moonflowers bloomed along the shore, their petals glowing softly.
"Go on," Grandma said.
Lily led Max into the cool water. At first, he moved stiffly, like a sleepy zombie puppy. But as the magical water touched his fur, something wonderful happened. Max's tail gave a little twitch. Then a big wag. SPLASH! He was swimming happily, chasing glowing fish.
A girl about Lily's age appeared from behind a willow tree. "I'm Luna," she said. "My grandma told me you might come."
Together, the girls and Max swam until the stars appeared. Max was himself again—bouncing, playful, and full of love.
"Sometimes things seem scary," Grandma said on the walk home, "but most of the time, a little kindness and magic can fix everything."
Lily hugged Max tight. She had made a new friend, discovered magic was real, and learned that even zombie-like puppies just needed a little help to be themselves again.
