Max and the Lightning Bugs' Magic

Max loved summer evenings, when the fireflies danced in his backyard like tiny floating stars. But one night, something extraordinary happened.

A lightning bug landed right on his nose! It glowed brighter than any bug he'd ever seen.

"Hello, Max!" the bug chirped. "I'm Flash! Want to see a secret?"

Max nodded, eyes wide.

Flash flew him to a hidden garden where hundreds of lightning bugs were having a party. They were mixing something special in a mushroom bowl.

"It's a sky vitamin!" Flash explained. "One sip, and you can swim through the air like it's water!"

Max took the tiniest sip. Suddenly, the air felt cool and swirly around him. He pushed off the ground and—WHOOSH!—he was swimming! Not in water, but in the air! He did somersaults and spirals, laughing with joy.

Then FLASH-BOOM! A summer storm rolled in.

"Quick!" said Flash. "The lightning is coming!"

But Max wasn't scared. He swam right up to the clouds and discovered something amazing: the lightning bolts weren't scary at all. They were giant glittery jump ropes made of rainbow light!

"Jump with us!" the lightning crackled happily.

Max jumped over every lightning bolt, and each time he did, it turned into a butterfly and fluttered away.

By morning, the storm had passed, and Max was back in his bed. But now, every time he sees lightning, he smiles, remembering how he swam through the sky and made friends with the storm.

And sometimes, if you look closely during a summer storm, you might still see him there—a tiny figure jumping over rainbow lightning, having the most wonderful adventure.
