Mango the Palm Tree Detective
Mango was not an ordinary cat. He was the brightest orange cat anyone had ever seen, with fur like sunshine and whiskers that twitched when adventure was near.
Every morning, Mango would race between the tall palm trees in Mrs. Rivera's garden, running faster than the ocean breeze. His favorite game was pretending to be a spy, peeking through palm fronds to watch the birds and squirrels.
One sunny Tuesday, Mango noticed something strange. His friend Oliver, a tiny brown mouse with very big ears, sat by the orange tree looking very sad.
"What's wrong, Oliver?" Mango asked, his orange tail curling with concern.
"I lost my lucky acorn," Oliver sniffled. "My grandmother gave it to me. It's supposed to bring courage, but I don't feel very brave without it."
Mango's green eyes widened. This was a job for Detective Mango! He crouched low behind a palm tree, his spy senses tingling.
"I'll help you find it," Mango promised. "A good spy never leaves a friend in trouble."
Together they searched everywhere. Behind the orange grove, under the gardenias, even beside the old fountain where the lily pads grew. But no lucky acorn.
Just then, Mango saw something glittering near the biggest palm tree. He crept forward, silent as a shadow, and spotted the acorn hidden in a pile of fallen palm leaves—stolen by a mischievous blue jay!
But instead of being angry, Mango had an idea. "The blue jay must have needed it more than we thought. Maybe she's building something special."
Mango found Oliver another acorn—this one shiny and perfect. "See? Courage doesn't come from things," Mango said wisely. "It comes from having good friends who help you."
Oliver smiled, clutching his new treasure. The two friends sat beneath the swaying palm trees, watching the orange sunset paint the sky, knowing that real magic wasn't in lucky acorns at all—it was in friendship.
