Luna and the Star-Swimming Bull
Luna sat on her back porch, wearing her favorite purple hat with the floppy brim. She loved that hat. It made her feel brave, like a explorer from her storybooks. Tonight, the stars twinkled extra bright, and Luna wished she could visit them.
Suddenly, a warm nose nudged her hand. Luna jumped! Standing by the fence was the most magnificent creature she had ever seen. A glowing bull with fur like midnight velvet and horns that sparkled like diamonds.
"I'm Taurus," the bull said in a voice like gentle thunder. "I come from the constellation above. I've watched you wear that special hat and make wishes. Tonight, I'll grant one."
Luna's eyes grew wide. "I want to see where you live! I want to go swimming through the stars!"
The bull nodded. "Climb on my back. But hold tight—star swimming is faster than lightning."
Luna grabbed the bull's sparkling horns, and WHOOSH! They shot upward like a rocket. The air grew cold and glittery. Luna held her purple hat firm as they zoomed past the Moon, which waved a glowing hello.
"We're going swimming now," Taurus announced, and suddenly they weren't flying—they were gliding through an ocean of starlight. Each star was a tiny glowing fish, darting around them. Luna laughed with delight as she reached out and touched their light. It tickled her fingers like firefly kisses.
They swam past galaxies that looked like glowing jellyfish. They raced comets that left trails of rainbow dust. Luna had never felt so free, so magical, so wonderfully small in the big, beautiful universe.
"Do you have friends up here?" Luna asked.
Taurus nodded. "Orion the Hunter tells stories. The Great Bear protects little stars. And you—you're my newest friend."
Luna's heart swelled. She had made friends with a constellation!
Too soon, Taurus turned back. "Time to go home, Luna. But remember—you can always visit me. Just wear your special hat and wish upon the brightest star."
They zoomed back to Luna's porch just as the first pink light of dawn touched the sky. Luna slid off the bull's back, her purple hat still perfectly in place.
"Thank you, Taurus!" she whispered, hugging his glowing neck.
"Thank YOU, Luna," Taurus replied. "For believing in magic."
With a sparkle and a smile, the star bull leaped back into the sky, joining his constellation friends. Luna ran inside to tell her family about her midnight adventure. She knew they might not believe her—but that was okay. She knew the truth: sometimes, if you're brave enough to wear a purple hat and wish big enough, the stars come down to say hello.
And from that night on, whenever Luna looked up at Taurus shining in the sky, she would wave. And sometimes, just sometimes, the bull would twinkle extra bright—like a secret wink between forever friends.
