Luna and the Star Bull
Luna was always running. Through golden meadows, over sparkling streams, past dancing wildflowers—her feet never wanted to stay still. Mama said Luna had moonlight in her veins.
One evening, while running near the old stone wall, Luna heard something sniffling behind the rocks. She peeked carefully and gasped. There, tangled in a blackberry bush, sat the tiniest bull she had ever seen. His coat shimmered like the night sky, with specks of silver that twinkled like stars.
"Oh! You're beautiful!" Luna whispered, kneeling beside him. "Are you hurt?"
The bull looked up with eyes like polished amber. "I'm Padel," he said, and Luna jumped back—she hadn't known bulls could talk! "I fell from the sky. My leg is stuck."
Luna gently untangled Padel's leg. "How did you fall from the sky?"
"I'm a star bull," Padel explained, "from the constellation Taurus. I was running across the Milky Way when I slipped and fell."
Luna's eyes widened. "A star bull! Like, from up there?" She pointed at the evening sky.
Padel nodded. "I must return home before sunrise, or I'll become an ordinary bull forever."
"I'll help you!" Luna declared. "But how?"
"We must run to the highest hill," Padel said, "where earth touches sky. But I'm still too weak."
Luna had an idea. She found her old wagon padded with soft blankets. "Climb in! I'll pull you."
Together, Luna and Padel rolled uphill, Luna running and pulling, Padel pushing with his good legs. They laughed as they bumped over roots and swished through grass.
"You're my best friend," Padel said as they climbed. "In all my centuries of running across constellations, I've never had a friend."
"I've never had a friend who's a star bull!" Luna laughed.
They reached the peak just as stars began to brighten the sky. Padel stood, his silver coat glowing brighter and brighter.
"Thank you, Luna," he said. "You taught me that friendship is the brightest light in any universe."
"Will I ever see you again?" Luna called, watching him float upward.
Padel became a spark of light, joining the constellation above. "Every time you see Taurus shining, I'll be there—running, and remembering my friend."
Now, whenever Luna goes running at night, she waves at the stars. And sometimes, just sometimes, one star twinkles back—her friend, running through the galaxy, never forgetting the girl who helped a star find its way home.
