Luna and the Silver Fox
Luna sat on her front porch, tapping on her iPhone. The summer sun warmed her toes, but she didn't notice. She was too busy playing games.
Something rustled in the garden.
A silver fox peeked around the papaya tree, its fur shining like moonlight. Luna had never seen a fox so close! Its amber eyes twinkled with secrets.
The fox nudged a fallen papaya toward her with its nose.
Luna set down her iPhone and followed as the fox darted toward the woods. Her heart fluttered like a butterfly.
Beyond the trees lay a hidden stream, crystal clear and shimmering. Dragonflies danced above the water.
"Come swim!" a voice called.
A girl about Luna's age waved from the water's edge. "I'm Maya! The fox brought me here too!"
Luna dipped her toes in. Cool, magical water tickled her feet. She splashed in, and soon they were swimming and laughing together.
The silver fox appeared on the bank, carrying the papaya in its mouth. It dropped the fruit between them.
They shared the sweet, orange papaya under the afternoon sun. It tasted like sunshine and friendship.
"Will I see you again?" Luna asked Maya.
"Every summer," Maya promised. "The fox knows who needs a friend."
As Luna walked home, the silver fox trotted beside her, then disappeared into the papaya tree.
That night, Luna's iPhone sat untouched on her nightstand. She was too busy dreaming of silver fur, sweet papaya, splashing water, and a new friend who felt like magic.
