Luna and the Magic Pool Friend

Luna was bored. It was another hot summer day, and she sat by the old swimming pool in her backyard. The water was still, clear as glass, and so quiet you could hear a leaf drop.

Then she saw him — a tiny goldfish, no bigger than her thumb, swimming alone in the deep end. But this wasn't any ordinary goldfish. His scales sparkled like tiny stars, and when he looked at her, his eyes seemed to hold secrets.

"Hello," Luna whispered, leaning close. "How did you get here?"

The goldfish swam to the surface and actually spoke! "My name is Fin, and I need your help, Luna."

Luna rubbed her eyes. "You can talk?"

"Only to special friends," Fin said. "I'm a guardian fish. This pool used to be a magical gateway. Someone dropped a mysterious vitamin pill into the water, and now the magic is fading! The water won't sparkle anymore."

Luna's eyes widened. "I can help! What do we need to do?"

Fin swam in excited circles. "The vitamin changed the water's magic. We need to add three special things: a laughing flower's petal, a feather from a morning bird, and one true wish spoken from the heart."

Luna found everything in her garden — a bright yellow sunflower petal that danced in the breeze, a soft blue feather under the oak tree, and then she closed her eyes by the pool's edge.

"I wish for magic to return, and for every child to have a wonderful friend," she whispered, dropping the petal and feather into the water.

Suddenly, the pool began to shimmer and glow! Rainbows danced across the surface. Fin's scales lit up brighter than ever, and the water bubbled with tiny sparkles. Two dragonflies with jeweled wings flew up from the depths.

"You did it!" Fin cheered. "The magic is back, stronger than before!"

Luna and Fin became best friends. Every day after school, she'd visit the pool, and they'd have adventures in magical underwater worlds only they could see.

"You know," Fin told her one day, "that vitamin wasn't an accident. The magic chose you, Luna. It knew you had a kind heart."

Luna smiled, watching her golden friend swim through the sparkling water. Some friendships are written in the stars, and some are found right in your own backyard, waiting for someone who believes in magic.
