Luna and the Magic Palm Pool
Luna was a lonely girl who lived in a house filled with quiet. Her only friend was Barnaby, a scruffy brown dog with one floppy ear and a nose that could smell magic from three miles away.
One hot summer afternoon, Barnaby started barking at an ancient palm tree in Luna's backyard. Not just any bark—a magical bark that made the air shimmer like gold dust. Luna had never noticed the palm before, but now she saw it was glowing softly, its trunk twisting like a staircase into the clouds.
"Come on!" Luna whispered, and she and Barnaby began to climb.
Up, up, up they climbed, past birds that sang in colors and leaves that tasted like strawberries. Finally, at the very top of the palm, they found it—a pool of crystal-clear water, floating right there among the fronds like a piece of sky had fallen and gotten caught.
But this was no ordinary pool. When Luna looked in, she didn't see her reflection. Instead, she saw dreams—hers and everyone else's, swirling like tiny galaxies.
Barnaby dipped his paw in, and suddenly the pool showed Luna something wonderful: all the lonely children in the world, each one waiting for a friend. The palm tree whispered, "The magic isn't in the pool, little one. It's in the sharing."
Luna understood. She cupped her hands and filled them with pool water, then watched as it turned into dozens of glowing orbs that floated down to earth, carrying friendship to every lonely child.
That night, Luna fell asleep with Barnaby curled beside her, both of them dreaming of the day they'd climb the palm again. And somewhere, lonely children everywhere found new friends, never guessing that magic lived at the top of a palm tree, guarded by a very special dog.
