Luna and the Goldfish's Gift
Luna was a small black cat with the shiniest hair in the whole neighborhood. She spent her days watching the goldfish swim in Mrs. Willow's pond, their scales flashing like tiny orange suns.
One stormy evening, lightning crackled across the sky. Luna watched from her windowsill, eyes wide. The lightning flashed bright as her own black fur, and she wondered what it would feel like to glow like that.
The next morning, something magical happened. The oldest goldfish, a wise fish named Finley, swam right to the edge of the pond.
"I saw you watching the lightning last night," Finley bubbled. "Would you like to catch some of that magic in your fur?"
Luna's heart leaped! "Oh yes, please!"
"But first," said Finley, "you must solve three puzzles. The magic of lightning only comes to clever, kind cats."
The first puzzle: Find something that makes you stronger every day. Luna thought hard, then brought Finley her orange juice with the special vitamin tablet that made her claws sharp and her coat glossy. "Perfect!" said Finley.
The second puzzle: Make something beautiful bloom. Luna used her soft cat hair to build a warm nest for a baby bird fallen from its tree. By morning, feathers had sprouted around it like flowers.
The third puzzle: Share your favorite thing. Luna thought for a long time. Then she did something surprising. She reached into her basket and pulled out her prized toy mouse — the one with the real whiskers — and dropped it gently beside the pond.
"The frogs can play with it," she said. "They look lonely."
Finley swam in a delighted circle. As Luna's paw touched the water, lightning flashed again — but this time it didn't scare her. A single bolt of glowing magic zapped from the sky and wove through her black hair, turning each strand into strands of shimmering light.
From that day on, Luna glowed like a tiny storm, but her brightest light came from kindness. The frogs played with her mouse, the birds sang her name, and Finley the goldfish blew magical bubbles just for her.
And every evening, when lightning danced across the sky, Luna purred with her own special glow — the magic of a cat who learned that sharing makes you brighter than any storm.
